Hi. I am Lauren an 18 year old who has just finished her A Levels. The elderly community have so many stories to tell and so much to give however, loneliness within elderly is very high. Therefore, being able to give company to those elderly people who have been around longer than me and deserve to be respected would mean the world to me.
I have considered being a carer however, although this sounds quite selfish I don't think at this age i'd want the responsibility of medications etc. Therefore, I think giving the elderly individual's company and helping them around the house may be able to combat the loneliness some people feel.
My nana had dementia and i was very close to her and she ended up having to go into a care home which quite frankly crushed me in half. She lived in Newcastle and so I couldn't just go and see her everyday. Every weekend we would go and see her and just being able to put a smile on her face would make my day. I wouldn't leave until she smiled. Therefore, I would stay with these people for as long as they wanted as there is no such thing as time when it comes for caring for others.
Although I don't have the qualifications and NVQ etc. I do have a compassionate, kind sense of being and therefore it would be my pleasure to be able to look after those who deserve respect and kindness.
I look forward to hearing from you all.
Thanks,
Lauren
