Ruth, home help in Belfast north

Hello my name is Ruth and I recently relocated to Belfast from California to be with my partner.
I worked in a care home for 5 and a half years. The first 4 years I was in charge of working with and assisting residents with a variety of needs such as paperwork, companionship, shopping for them, arranging medical appointments and referring them to our nursing services as needed. The last year and a half I was the executive director/manager for the entire building. We had 175 residents and I was responsible for the overall operation of the building including staffing, occupancy and more.
I would say a few of my qualities are patience, compassion and the ability to make connections with just about anyone. I really loved and love working with the elderly. It is something that has taught me much about myself and the world writ large. To be able to just sit with someone and share stories and experiences is something I have always honored about a position working with the elderly.
