Hello, I'm Shannon. I am a 19 year old Primary Education student, currently completing my second year at university.
I work in the primary school environment and have done so both in a university based placement for two years, as well as outside of university in additional placements.
The years I have currently worked with in a professional nature are Reception, Year 3 and Year 5, but I have worked with all year groups throughout my further placements.
My subject specialism at university is History, as I believe with any subject, enthusiasm and a love to teach can bring it to life and ensure that children are engaged and focused on the topic.
My personal belief with tutoring and educational aid, is that you as an individual are there to support the child in their learning journey, until they are then confident enough to begin working independently. It is very common to see children struggle in a school environment purely because one method won't work for them, but I aim to ensure that the children can work through a number of methods to learn so they always have these skills available to them.
As I mentioned previously, I am a university student. Before heading to university, I completed skills tests in both Numeracy and Literacy to show my competence. I also have 3 A Levels in History, Law and English Literature, with an AS in Psychology. For my secondary school career, I attended a grammar school and so have 16 GCSEs, no lower than a B (certificates can be provided if necessary). I attended a Church of England primary school, but am currently in placement at a Catholic School and so have experience with teaching about the religious aspects that often accompany education.
As I am a student, I would be living at home with my family over the summer months and so would feel more comfortable tutoring at your homes if possible. Until I can afford to buy another car, this means I will be relying on public transport which can be discussed upon employment, as it may impact our schedule if it is not discussed prior to sessions.
