My name is Morgan, I am a socially engaged artist/ artist educator with over 15 years professional experience of selling paintings through galleries, exhibiting and over 10 years experience of teaching Art, Craft and Design.
I have recently moved to Bristol (I teach 3 days per week at Weston College). I have held residencies with teaching responsibilities at The School, KFI, India, Atelje Clobb, Slovenia, Bedford University and was a community studio holder through Cubitt at a care home in Dalston). I have run life drawing classes for Mini Picasso's in London and as part of my role of Art Lecturer at Amersham and Wycombe College.
I have been devising and delivering creative learning and arts education programs for over 10 years in galleries, schools, colleges, universities, care homes, Pupil referral units, SEN institutions in London, India and Ghana and more recently in refugee camps in Greece. In 2012 I was awarded a scholarship to undertake my PGCE Art & Design at the Institute of Education. I am passionately and actively committed to creative agency and community development.
I have worked with Cubitt Gallery (I ran the 'Inside art' program for older residence of Islington from the gallery in addition to running termly projects in primary and secondary schools as artist in residence). I have also worked for Widening Participation, The Big Draw and with a number of schools and colleges across London. I was hired by CSM to hold a one day seminar on socially engaged practice for CSM 1st year BA (Hons) Art students at Cubitt Gallery where I gave a detailed lecture about my work and wider practice. Giving talks and lectures about my work was also part of my residency responsibilities at Bedford University. I have a lot of experience of delivering appropriate and stimulating workshops to 16-20 year olds and as the BTEC Level 3 course leader at NCC and A Level Art Teacher at St. Charles 6th form college I helped students compose their portfolio’s and statements in order to get into university and foundation courses.
My own work explores social and political issues through humour, film, performance, photography, painting, sculpture and social surrealism and is therefore very interconnected with my work as an artist educator.
If you are interested in finding out more about my work and practice I would kindly invite you to google Morgan and look at my website.
