Having qualified as a teacher in 1987 and gained 15 years experience in both secondary and junior schools, I took time away from the classroom to train as a chef. Having enjoyed the challenge of pub kitchens, Michelin starred restaurants and working as a private chef, I returned to education in 2000. I spent 15 years working with troubled teenagers within an inclusion center mentoring and tutoring them in all subjects across the curriculum. During this time I developed a variety of courses aimed at helping students with learning difficulties towards independence and was able to combine my passion for cooking with my love of teaching to design a course that enabled young people to gain skills and confidence in cookery. I now offer 1:1 tuition for students of all ages and abilities. Courses are written specifically with the individual in mind and range from basic cookery for independent living to preparation for work in a professional kitchen. I have a current DBS check.
