Nowadays, speaking another language is a true advantage and the challenge of interesting young people in learning another language is something I find very rewarding. When I was a student, I was always enthusiastic about learning English and it was mainly because I have been lucky enough to be taught by teachers who were passionate about that subject. I have worked as a French language assistant for nearly two years and my role in the school was to stimulate students’ communication skills in French and also to share my experiences of French culture with them. My objective was to promote the importance of learning a foreign language to young people and to engender a genuine interest in and love for the subject, at the same time as providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve high standards in their qualifications. Throughout my experience as a language assistant, I have come to realise that teaching is my true vocation. Teaching is constantly developing and it represents a great opportunity to improve lives; this allows teachers to keep being creative and to keep lessons relevant and up-to-date. I very much enjoy working with young people and have found my work extremely rewarding.
