I have been teaching piano for over fifteen years, hold a Certificate of Teaching through ABRSM and am a member of the professional body, EPTA UK. I worked as a peripatetic piano teacher in a local primary school for over ten years and, more recently, in a school for children of all ages with special needs.
I teach privately to pupils of all ages and abilities, from young children to adults, from absolute beginner to grade eight. Often I have adult pupils who have learnt as a child and wish to take up their hobby once more or develop their skills further. Whatever the decision for learning to play, I tailor lessons to suit the individual. Pupils can choose to play for pleasure with a variety of genres or follow a structured path entering for examinations if they wish. I have many years experience with both ABRSM and LCM examination boards.
My aim is to make lessons fun and engaging and I actively encourage my pupils to participate in concerts that I hold annually, along with other opportunities to perform throughout the year. For the adults I host informal piano meet-up afternoons, where we play to each other in a safe, non-judgemental atmosphere.

Since April 2020 due to COVID-19, teaching face to face in person has not been possible and so I have made the transition to online lessons for all my pupils for the foreseeable future. I have been delighted with the success of this format and am now able to offer my services to pupils further afield who would not previously have been able to access lessons with me.

In addition, I offer music theory tuition to grade five ABRSM for pupils of any instrument. Aural training in preparation for music exams up to grade five ABRSM is also available.

All piano lessons are offered on a half hour weekly basis, term time only but this can be flexible. Theory and aural training are offered as a short term package during school holidays or possibly term time depending on availability.
