Hi my name is Elizabeth and I am currently finishing my A levels in History, Maths and Drama
I enjoy working with children of all ages; I have experiences helping out with crafts at a local tots group, running a drama club for 11-12 year olds and as a Junior Leader for Rainbows ages 5-8. In addition I have regular babysitting experience for many families for children as young as 6 months. I believe this has helped me develop the interpersonal skills I would need to interact with parents having experience with the types of concerns and doubts they might have leaving their child. I am able to babysit for so many families because I have been recommended a lot which is a huge compliment as I believe it highlights that I offer reliable childcare and am a warm and reassuring person for both the children and their parents.
I also take part in an English mentoring scheme at my school where I tutor younger students, primary 11-15 year olds, helping them to develop both their spoken and written language. Often the children I mentor are shy or embarrassed that they have to have a tutor and I have found that by relying on my inter-personal skills and developing a personal relationship with each student I can help them access learning in a way that interests them where their teachers don’t always have the time to do so in a large class. For example one boy struggled with written language but had a keen interest and aptitude for chemistry and by incorporating science theory, finding scientific journals online and extracts from paragraphs, I was able to help him drastically improve his grammar and literacy skills.
I have vast experience with maths finishing my GCSE a year early and gaining an A* and then progressing to achieve the same at a further maths qualification I am now completing my Maths Alevel so it is fair to say that I have both an enjoyment and aptitude for the subject. Similar to the English mentoring scheme at my school I have been involved in maths tutoring and throughly loved sharing my enthusiasm for maths with others.
