My name is Charlie . I am 25 years old today. I work as a secondary school maths teacher in London, in my third year of classroom teaching and over 20 years of my life involved in the subject. It’s safe to say I love teaching almost as much as I love maths.
My teaching method is patient and stimulates curiosity and creative thinking. There are two objectives when teaching maths. One of these involves leading students through engaging mathematical investigations, showing them how thinking mathematically can help to gain a better picture the world. The other side is to pass exams, in which case I provide exam questions and I would show how to approach these questions in great detail. I provide visual explanations and modelled examples, so that even more difficult concepts can be broken down into simple pieces to facilitate deep conceptual understanding. Then, with hard work and sufficient time investment, my students always make demonstrably good progress and perform outstandingly in examinations.
However, as much as I pride myself in giving my students the confidence to smash their exams - my greatest reward is the moment when my students’ eyes light up with the realisation of a new concept that was previously obscure and is now clear.
I am currently based in London and can unfortunately only provide online video lessons to prospecting students in Paris. However, I will make the transition to Paris in late August/Early September. At that point I will become available for home visits and person-person appointments.
